Mayo Clinic offers an advanced one-year or two-year fellowship in general thoracic surgery for individuals who have recently completed either the American Board of Thoracic Surgery requirements or their equivalence in thoracic surgery training abroad. A robust preoperative clinical experience, an extensive operative experience encompassing all types of open and minimally invasive chest wall, esophageal, mediastinal, and pulmonary procedures including transplantation, and the postoperative management of a wide array of general thoracic surgical conditions is provided. Ample opportunities for clinical research, presentation, and publication are available. A strong educational program, which may be of benefit for Board preparation, occurs on a weekly basis. For successful application, international medical graduates must hold a valid ECFMG certificate. Applications are being accepted for July 2026 positions.
Mayo Clinic is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Institution.
